ECOPERFORMANCE EXPEDITION I
Ribeira Valley - Part1
A Taanteatro Companhia Project
In December 2022, Taanteatro Companhia undertook the first Ecoperformance Expedition in two Ribeira Valley State Parks of São Paulo, Brazil.
The first phase of the journey led to an immersion in the chthonic universe of the PETAR caves; the second phase explored the coastal landscapes of Ilha do Cardoso.
Taanteatro's Ecoperformance Expedition resulted in six short films featuring Mônica Cristina Bernardes and Jorge Nldozy as welll as an interview with Maura Baiocchi, the creator of the ecoperformance concept and founding director Taanteatro Companhia and the International Ecoperformance Filmfestival.
The first part of the expedition's program consists of the films ITAOCA, TIKO TIKU, TAPERA, and ECOPERFORMANCE: Interview with Maura Baiocchi.
The films are also part of the Environmental Dance project by Company Christoph Winkler (Berlin).

TIKO TIKU is a contemporary [re&de]construction of traditional mozambican dance from a African Diaspora perspective. The performance was recorded at Mirante Pôr do Sol (Juquiá) and Mirante do Governador at Caverna do Diabo State Park (Iporanga, SP, Brazil).

ITAOCA presents a genesis process of the body and its states of matter in symbiosis with a tropical womb-cave. The performance was recorded at Black Hill Cave (Iporanga, SP, Brazil).

TAPERA is a meditation on the memory of ancestral lifeworlds, abandonment and suspensions of time. The performance was recorded in a mud house, typical for traditional South American and African construction methods.
